Man...y'all gotta learn your memes. *lol*

That phrase isn't an assessment or guess...it's a shot at the idea that there could possibly be any doubt. :)

Siggi said it best...that's not only obviously shopped, it's glaringly obvious.

It's not any one thing, just the feeling one gets from reading what people write. Maybe I've just spent too much time coding psychological exams responses, lol.
I'm not saying you are not the age you say you are, I just get the feeling you are a good deal older. Take that as a compliment if you wish.

    Sorry. :)

This just happens to be the only forum I hang out on that doesn't use this meme regularly, apparently. I've used it 2-3 times and each time someone's said "Yes, we know it's shopped!" or something along those lines, as though I was "assessing" the image and rendering a guess or judgement that it had been manipulated.

The "This looks shopped, I can tell by some of the pixels" meme started in the early 2000's, and is a "smart remark" about an obviously and/or poorly manipulated image. It's basically sarcasm, poking fun at the idea that anyone might need to look carefully or have seen lots of photoshopped images, the idea being that the image in question is SO poorly done, that it's obvious to even a casual observer.

There are some who suggest, though no actual citations can be provided, that it originated in a Fark.com photoshop contest thread, when a new user tried to "bust" someone's obviously manipulated image by pointing out its flaws, not realizing that the point of the thread was to post manipulated images. :) It's said that the user called out several examples with the faked "credibility" of being able to tell by some of the pixels, and having seen quite a few shops in his time. :)

So, probably much like that apocryphal newbie, I was just being a sarcastic troll. :)

Just to sorta round out the idea, and then I'll stop with the threadjack. :)

By copying and pasting. Yes, it looks very obvious that it's been "shopped", or in this case more like "chopped". Because I'm basically taking a square from one part of the picture and pasting it over into another.
I sometimes do this with photographs of coins to be listed on ebay. If I later decide to lot them up differently I just fill in the coin that is no longer part of the lot with pieces of the background, instead of taking new photos.

Sorry to be late on asking, but what is a 'memes'? I probably understand what it is saying, but really, what does it mean? Call me a hick for asking, but I'm illiterate on much of this jargon.

I don't know why you think it is so incredible that his writing belies his age. My grandmother got me hooked on crossword puzzles when I was five, so I had a big jump on the kids in grade school. I became the editor of the school newspaper in 4th - 6th grades.

Literally, it's an idea or behaviour that is spread from one person to another within a culture. :)

In other words, if you have some subset of people with a common tie, and within their group they have a certain idea or behaviour they use, without really formalizing it, that's a meme.

As an example...the phrase "Be sure not to put up any pictures when asking us what your coin is worth" might be a meme here at CT. :)

How is it pronounced, and who uses it? Is it a word out in the world? I've never heard or read it.

    Thank you.

It's not about the quality of the writing... I guess I can't explain it.
Anyhow, like I said if the kid is 14 than it's a compliment when someone finds it hard to believe they are that young.
Now if he said he was 40 and someone thought 14... that's a whole different story. =)

I have a hard time believing it's even real, or edited. People do anything for money. Either he's really smart or he had parental help. Don't believe a 7 year old edited this.

They might've helped him, i'm not sure.

P.S. the only reason why i type so good is because i go back and read what i wrote to make sure it makes sense, and has no grammatical errors. :)
