Neat setup in my county (Maryland). "The Montgomery County Police Department has designated Exchange Zones for residents to complete online transactions (LetGo, OfferUp, Craigslist, etc.). This Exchange Zone program has been implemented to help reduce and deter crimes such as theft, robbery, and fraud." Good for eBay's Local Pickup transactions too. Then there's a list of places, mostly at police stations. Probably easy enough to set up in your local areas. Doesn't cost the local authorities anything that I can think of.
Oops, just thought. Probably the wrong location for this post. Monitors may move it. But the idea is so important that maybe it deserves to remain here. Many people may not look at the other location.
Cool idea. I hope it grows. The problem in PA is that counties don't DO policing, every little municipality does.
It is they have had one at the Richland County Sheriff's Department for over a year now. It also has 24 hour video outside.
The Montgomery County Police Department is incurring costs to set them up and promote them. Also, they are likely assuming some liability (aka risk of costly lawsuits) by implying that some level of real safety is provided in the zones.
I used to raise the cats that we used to keep the rodents running in their wheels to generate juice where I used to live. Our idea of broadband was a fat musical ensemble.
I think there have been some around here for a year or so. It also seems there was something just on the news in the last month or so.
