I've been maintaining this for several years now, What's the point of having one of those new TVs or PC monitors if your eyes aren't good enough to appreciate that range of colors and lifelike resolution? Mine certainly aren't that good for sure.

I once was an audiophile — I even wrote for one of the magazines for a while — but it dawned on me one day some years ago that one of my highly prized recordings was sounding lifeless and without any air around the sound sources. A fellow audiophile friend of mine suggested that I take an online hearing test intended for audiophiles, and I was surprised to find that I had hardly any hearing at all above 3 kHz, and that the decline was steep in the graph from 20 to 20K. There's more money spent on audio equipment than I'd care to admit just going to waste out in my living room that hasn't been used in more than five years. AT LEAST PC monitors fall in price once the technology has been around for a while, but a comparable audio amp to the one I have would cost more than $25K these days by a very conservative estimate.

Back in the early days of computers, Monitors were primitive, and most of the PC's did not have the resolution for a regular TV. You needed to use a B&W TV to get fine enough resolution to see print.
The "high tech" solution was a monochrome green screen monitor.
I started with a WebTV, but eventually graduated to a desktop .
with one of those green monitors
Since then, I have not paid much attention to resolution. Todays smaller flat screens are intended for up close use, and should be at least adequate. But, up close. you can sometimes see the pixels. its usually the only use where upu even need to consider resolution

My new computer came yesterday, and I spent much of the afternoon setting it all up. This 32 inch monitor is absolutely enormous! I'm flipping through my coin pictures, and absolutely loving the high resolution, beautiful color, and palatial screen size!

And also, I really like having a keyboard again... I've been trying to work on a tablet for the last two weeks, and it's just miserable typing on those things.
