I guess I am just stuck there. I hate selling, even stuff I haven't looked at in over a decade. I just KNOW someday I will wish I hadn't sold something if I sell it. I really am starting to think I have a hoarding issue, thankfully they are tiny so I won't have to be on that dang tv show.
Chris, I know and understand exactly where you're at, but my dilemma is far less complicated than yours. You are a curator and preserver of history. Your coins tend back to the beginnings of civilization, where mine echo only a moment in time......
The last few posts to this thread have a flavor of "coin spirituality" to them. Some of the expressions remind me of poetry and journal insights. Very Cool. I might be still more of a "Medorama" than a "Green18" I gift out coins when I am ready to let go of them. Saling the coins is sort of hard and to much trouble in my opinion. There are a lot of coin lovers in my family.
TBH I wish I had the luxury of being like you Medora. To be able to buy and hold onto any coin is a wonderful gift, you are a lucky man. My only option to get more coins is to buy and sell at a profit. Everything is for sell for the right price with me, no matter how much I like the coin. I wish I was in your shoes, instead I must walk in my own.
I'm actually amazed at the span of those photographs. Ruben's collecting habits seem to be like a nervous tick. His eye for finding beauty in the mundane is very impressive for a "Pharmacist". Amanda
It's a medal that was part of the National Wildlife Refuge System Centennial Medal Series produced (by the mint) back in 2003. The depicted medal was produced both in bronze and silver.
I think the love extends beyond the coin. The term to use is narcissism at this point. We do and we have more than 20 in fact. We have plenty of members here who do share coins they love, not just the same coin over and over and over and over and over and over again. Again, it's not about the coin the way I see it now, it's an obsession that's gone so far it controls him. When people start showing off their coins in new threads, most share new coins or other coins they haven't shared with everyone here. With redwin, it's the same coin. The claim of 7.5 million that was turned down, I seriously doubt happened. This tells me his psychological attachment he has with this coin is a problem, not a passion or love. He'll never sell this coin because he doesn't want to lose his attachment to it. We've all seen the coin, it's time to move on and talk about something else. Sorry redwin, no pun intended but I do think you have some "issues" and it all starts with this coin. Perhaps it's time to let go of the coin or you're going to turn into:
1856 Flying Eagle cent PF63 although the 1907 Ultra High Relief St. G Double Eagle PF 67 would be tempting.
