95% of the time, it’s nothing.

I think my past best was two rotted Zincolns and a hair pin.

Tonight at the grocery store, I was astonished to see the CoinStar reject slot chock full of stuff!

    My hoard:

    (31) Zincolns (all but eight utter trash)
    (1) 2000-P dime
    (2) Jamaican dollar coins, both 2017

    And the big treasure…

    (1) enviro-damaged 1918 Wheat cent, crusty but readable. Woohoo! :greedy::p

Quite the motherlode, in comparison to the usual nothing.

I trust that you promptly washed your hands afterwards milord. Those zincolns look particularly nasty, I would hate to know where those have been.

Washed hands? No no no, ate a big bag of Hot Cheetos! Nothing dresses up Zincolns with a special luster like that special red orange Cheeto dust. Mmm mmm mmmmmm!! Then you immediately put them on eBay for the Big Bucks!!! ;)

Nice finds Rob! I have started checking because of all the stuff posted here, thanks for posting and Happy Holidays all.

I would bury them in the dirt somewhere so some future detectorist can find them and think they hit the jackpot.

I think they might be destined for a wishing well somewhere.

Yep, one whiff of my fingers afterwards, and I had to wash my hands.

Didn’t somebody here once find a tenth-ounce K-rand? If so, that has to be the most epic CoinStar find in history.

If my vague memory of that serves, I seem to recall that it was the person who often photographs his coins atop a colorful beaded Native American basket or something? Does this ring a bell, or am I confused?

Here's the thread in question, although I believe you must be thinking of some other member.

Regardless, if you dig deep enough into the Coinstar finds thread, a few members have claimed that they found a $2.50 Indian in the Coinstar reject slot. However, those posts were made well over a decade ago.

Ahh, yes, thank you. I thought the beaded-backdrop photo person was the finder of that K-rand. Got my old posts mixed up.

I believe someone from NYC claimed to have found a $2.50 Indian in a Coinstar reject slot.

My best finds were a silver dime, on two separate occasions. Both were 1962-D IIRC.

Finding something, even rotten Zincoln's. at least made it worth while. LOL
One wonders why some of the coins, like the dime, were rejected. Makes me wonder if it was light and therefore might be an error coin? Just a thought.

I have found gold a number of times including a 2017 proof Canadian 1/4oz maple leaf.

My record was a full 50 silver dimes. Insane

It can ring a bell for someone for sure. How does that make it mutually exclusive from you being confused though? ;)

Every time I go to the store. This haul was in 2014, and I’ve never had anything remotely clos.
In 2019 I found $20 worth of loose change, but nothing special. That was a good haul
