Yeah, that's a nice looking barber there. Tough to find those in higher grades, and near impossible if you're just spending a quarter... It's official. I'm getting back into roll searching.
When you ask the teller if he/she has any halves/dollars, etc, and they say no, do you ask the other tellers too? I tried that and it seems to annoy them for some reason.
I'll either ask the other tellers or ask that teller to ask everyone else. If there's a long line behind me then I won't out of courtesy to people who have "real" banking business. And I try to keep my requests quick. But if the tellers have an attitude, oh well. It's their job to help the customers and that includes me.
Holy smokes VA! There's still a couple days left in February, I'm smelling bank run for every day until the end of the month!!
I don't understand how a teller didn't know those coins were special... or any other employee near by - they always chat with each other... How did SOMEONE not question the fact that over $200 of antique coins were there?!?!? Not saying I don't believe it, but boy it's hard to...
Most tellers I've asked about coins will keep the silver. I've noticed however that many of them don't know the 40%ers are silver. But this particular teller had no clue what she was looking at, period. She kept flipping the coins over looking for the demoninations. She didn't even know that the SBAs were a dollar. I had to point out to her what each coin was. That's a dollar, that's a half dollar, etc. She was very ignorant as to what is American money.
VACookey is right on the money. Even though tellers work with money all day most don't care, don't know and don't see currency/coins as collector's do. This is why I keep my mouth shut when I see a silver half in a teller tray, I just offer to buy all of the halves I see when I see one. Most don't care about collectible's and if they did they could take 5 minutes and do the research. The other day I was at a bank and I asked the teller if she had any big dollar coins. She said she had 5 'silver' dollars a few days prior but someone bought them. I asked if they were Eisenhower's and she couldn't give me an answer! 98.5% of tellers are as clueless as those who release silver coins into circulation to begin with.
I went to a bank yesterday and asked for "old big dollars" rather than the golden dollars. "You know, like Eisenhowers" I said to the man. He replied, "You need to order those from the treasury."
Wish there were tellers like that around here... I don't know how there could be such a regional difference, but esp. since the silver craze, tellers make a point to pull stuff out. In fact, most places have a "fairness" code where all the tellers in the line share whatever stash comes in. I wish some of you could see it, esp. NOS Under the advice of some members here, I've even gone to outlying small towns... and they seem to be worse!
Picked up 3 rolls Of quarters from lady friend teller. Said they were the new 2020’s. I got 9 Vermont W’s out of them. She said she’ll save me the last five rolls till Monday. I’ll get at least 3 more
Every dog does indeed have their day. If you have heart and determination, you can't miss with whatever your passion may be. And one can easily tell by VACookey's posts, that she lacks from neither. Nice score, kiddo!
