Ya,but yours puts mine to shame. YOU HOOK UP WITH THAT 1909 O GOLD PIECE YET. Once you get this coin, you will have an awesome set.!
Nah, you got a great set and are right to be proud of it. Thanks. Haven't found the right 1909-O $5 yet. Would like to find a nice AU58, but those are hard to find as once folks get one they tend to keep them. Not in a rush for that one though as it's quite expensive... in the next year or two maybe I'll have it
I like the idea of including a Liberty nickel, there are some nice proofs to be had for not a whole lot of money. Gets you thinking....
IMO, Barber's are the classiest coins ever produced by the US. Beautiful coins, I'd be proud to display them anywhere in my home.
To the OP, very nice set. Really love your dime and quarter! I, too, have a barber type set (as a subset of my 1905 proof set and US type sets). Here are the obverses: PCGS PF 66 CAC PCGS PF 66 CAC PCGS PF 64 CAC Still looking for the half dollar....Mike
Got a new addition to my Barber type set today... have the dime, quarter, and half... anyone care to guess what it is? (Hint: mintage of 500,000)
I would imagine a Hawaiin quarter or dollar, but since the quarter has a far higher survivorship I will go with that denomination.
I'm still searching for the right 1893-P toned half to go with my two Barber pieces. If you find a nice one, please let me know! No hurry! I too will search for an appropriate V nickel, but finding a MS toned 1893 nick is really tough. All in due time. P.S. I love all the coins posted thus far. How wonderful to see such great specimens!
I have mixed feelings about Barber coinage. Their broad homogeneity is rather dull in one regard, the issue of Liberty's sexual ambiguity is another. Then again Barber coinage is eminently practical and functional, thus I like circulated examples. I only have one Barber coin: Admittedly it's rather worn, but it had that kind of antique worn Barber look that I like. It has a weird scuff on the eagles neck I didn't notice when I got it, and it does look better quarter-sized than this large image. But still, it's the look I shoot for for circulated coins.
Catbert, your '93 Barbers are great coins! It will take a while to find a half that is up to the challenge! Anyone else have a guess as to the addition to my Barber type set, besides TomB?
