More the knowledge that a large percentage of the older holders have decent coins that were graded "tougher" than today's market graded material. Although some will say most all that would grade higher have been sent to CAC or have been resubmitted or cracked out.

Sorry about the blurry pics I was just trying to fit all 3 into 1 pic.

Here are better close up photos. My phone camera isn’t great but it’s the best I could do.

The OP coin I posted is my 1921s. It is a mid-high grade 64, although it could have easily graded 65. Strike is fairly weak on it. Here are my 1921 p and d PCGS MS 65 coins. They are big on luster, even if they are not mark free by any means.

Just by comparing the lack of breast feathers on mine to yours I can see why yours was graded higher.

Different doesn’t always mean bad ;).

    Think about it like this.

Back when Seated Liberty Dollars were at the end of their circulation the Morgan Dollar was different to it. In that case something different turned out to be a great thing.

I do think one thing they should’ve done is mint the 2021 Morgans as proofs. For $85 you’d think you’d at least get a proof.

Afterall the V75 Proof American Silver Eagle was only $83 and it came as a proof and with a nice little case and box.

Why would these 2021 Morgans cost any more to make than a proof ASE V75?

If they don’t cost more to make they shouldn’t cost more.

Oh and the Morgans only have 0.858 troy oz compared to 1 troy oz on the ASE.

So why does a non-proof Morgan with less silver cost more than a proof with more silver?

It shouldn’t. If they made it a proof at least it wouldn’t be as bad.

True . Very expensive for the amount minted . I wish they where the same as the originals as far as materials so they would be the same width . It’s not like anyone would mistake them for a old Morgan or use them to counterfeit older dates.

I was watching "The Coin Vault" and "Ricks Coin Show" {I Can't remember the name of Rick's show.) Anyway, They are selling the ASE Type 1 and ASE Type 2 for hundreds of dollars. On "Rick's Coin Shoe" they were selling 2 Type 2 for upwards of almost a thousand dollars. I have trouble watching both show's hype that maybe as long as a half an hour and in some cases a whole shoe before give you their prices. There also some that sell on ebay the ASE Type 2 for hundreds of dollars, but to give them credit, some sellers have reasonable prices. Just a matter of interest (to me), I bought a ASE Type 2 in the Mint's packaging for about $145. I know it is excessive, but I wanted to make sure that I had that coin in case the Mint closed down before I got one. Through dumb luck, I had 1 2021 W ASE Proof from an old account that I thought had closed. Evidently, it didn't close and the ASE W was in my enrollment. I had 3 ASE W Type 2 in my new account. I now have 5 2021 W ASE Proof Silver Dollars. It's kind of funny because I called the Mint to ask them if enrollments for the ASE Type 1 and Type 2 would be honored. I asked that question on the window that you can ask them questions... I was told that it would not be honored.
Anyway, I like my coins or I would not have bought them. I got two of the 2021 Morgans.. the "D" and the "S". I thought I would get one of those 2 Pack Displays that I could put my 1921 D and the 2021 D in one Display and my 1921 S and my 2021 S in another.
I am sorry for taking your time. May the Force be with you!

Does this count as hoarding? :) You're going to be like @Collecting Nut, doing some spring cleaning years from now and come across yet more 2021 ASE proofs.

The order button was the easy part. Just about everyone got that far, even most if not all of the people who weren’t able to get one of the Morgan’s. The problems started after that when you started filling in information.

Most would get timed out, go back to the entry page again where the information would have to be filled in again, get sent to a page where you have to prove you’re a human, then get sent to a page that supposedly doesn’t exist and have to start the process over again.

It's pretty simple why the mint charged $85, they would have sold out at $100 each and they knew that.

Now I don't know what is happening. I ordered the D and S 2021 Morgans and they showed up in my ordering as "Processing" and also showed up on my credit card statement. I checked it out to day and my list of orders show that they are Backordered and they were no longer on my credit card account. I hope I am right in that since their delivery date is in October, they won't charge my account until they coins are ready to deliver.
Anybody else have something like this or even something else?

There was a thread on this earlier in the week. The mint charges your card to make sure there is enough credit for the transaction even though they are not ready to ship. Once satisfied, they put your items on backorder, and re-credit your card. You will be charged when the items are to ship.

Thank you so much. I have been so confused this year, I couldn't tell which end was up. WOW! What a relief.

today I traded a type 2 proof silver eagle and 60.00 for a
AU looking 1925 peace dollar partially missing some rays , a 1928 s that looks about XF-40-5 but the eagle head looks AU , it had a nice very subtle coloring and some frosty look minus the wear areas and also a 1934 s that looks VF-35 to XF-40 . Has some scratches but does not look cleaned . All nice looking coins . I thought that was a fair deal .
