Cracks me up that you can look at a picture of a coin, and not know that it is hideous reproduction of a once beautiful design. Even without holding the coin in hand, it is painfully obvious.

I think you also have to take into account the quality of the mint's modern commemorative offerings...most have been poorly executed in my opinion. This, combined with the ugly renderings don't give me a lot of confidence.

As I said, I will hold off on final judgement until I see one in hand but I'm not expecting much.

Were the pictures bad or was it the coin. When you get the coin in hand, I would like to know the answer to your statements.
I had a difficult time getting on the Mint's webpage. Once in and I selected the 2021 Morgan (D), I had difficulty with the purchasing pages. Once I finally got on the payment page, I kept getting kicked out, but finally, after much trial, I finally finishing the purchase and I finally got a copy of the invoice.
I decided to try for the 2021 (S) Morgan and was able to purchase that coin without any problems. All of that happened before 12:10P.
I thought about attacking it again or at least see if they were still offering the Morgans and all that was there was the "Remind Me".
My question is, did anyone have any luck in purchasing the Morgans after 12:10PM or was it just my efforts that were blocked?
I am sure that many of you do not lick the new Morgans. That will always be the case when you want to purchase anything. I am sorry that you don't like them. That's the reason many of you like the ancient coins and I think they're a waste of money. It will always be the case for many things.
I hope that you will be able to find the coins that are suited to your taste.

I have no problem getting coins that I like. If you keep on trying to purchase the latest junk from the US Mint, you will never be able to get it, as big dealers are obviously getting priority. Enjoy paying inflated prices on the secondary market, as you get shafted by the US Mint. That is, unless it is a low interest issue of the Mint that nobody wants.

I won't sell it, I'll keep it but no did not care much about this new series to be honest. I just wanted one for the novelty of it all.

At one time 40+ years ago, I was a dedicated stamp collector, and then the US Postal Service began their junk production hoping to gather $$ from a large number of the collectors they knew would buy anything to keep their collections current. This got worse and worse over the next decades. I still have the heart of my collection, and maybe someday they will regain their value. I still enjoy looking at them, sadly. I see the US Mint borrowed their book on success "They will be flipping so much , few will notice or care what they look like". IMO, Jim

I'm infatuated with the oldie Morgan's, and fond of the newbies. Overall, I love them all! Thanks for the post.

Frankly, which is most of them. I don't know if this hype lasts. Give it a year or two and these might not be very expensive.

I actually could have ordered one. When I went to the website to see how quickly they would sell out, the order button actually came up, but I decided not to go for it. I already have one nice common-date Morgan, that's good enough for me.

Big YAWN. Are you going to post this thread a third time for the next release? I have many original Morgans in my collection. I don't have any 2021s yet and I'm not yet disappointed by a computer image since I don't have the physical product in hand. But the same people can't wait to criticize everyone who bought them for unknown reasons.

Seeing as how the entire mintages sold out in 15 to 29 minutes both times and there was supposed to be a two week ordering window, I guess the "know-it-alls" in this thread are likely in the bitter minority. I have plenty of extremely nice old Morgans including a 21-D in MS-65. Now I will have 2021-Ds too. It's not an either or proposition. Collectors can have both! Unfortunately most people are probably nervous to discuss them anywhere here now as the bullies are out in full force again! Thank GOD we have real coin collectors here to set people straight! What a joke.

Whatever happened to "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."? I'm not a mint apologist and I know they charged plenty for them but why run them down before they're even delivered? Criticize them when they deserve it. FACT: There is no way any complainers on this forum would have been happy with anything they came up with. Some people just like to complain so they feel important and like a "cut above" the rest. More power to you.

They put out plenty of junk. I wouldn't put the new Morgans and Peace in that category.

They sold to big dealers, who are already flipping them to suckers just like you. :)

I would too. We'll need a true expert to chime in to give us what the realistic difference is between an old and a new one. They look indistinguishable to me but I'm just a layman. lol

I bought straight from the mint because I didnt want to have to buy them from the dealers. Your statement is meaningless.

An attractive example of an an anniversary issue, engraved by Daniel Carr. It has far more esthetic appeal than the Mint’s junk.

He’s a lightweight. Not worth the effort. Obviously a flipper.
