The 7070 is so fun! You've done a great job and I like seeing how the album has progressed. You are spot on with your observation about trying to keep a consistent grade/look. I'm patiently awaiting a nice 20 cent and a few of the half cents and cents.
Got tired of looking for a well-struck, raw, interesting memorial cent for the album. (Not that this one is my ideal strike either.) I looked for some time, too. In the past I never paid much attention to memorials, but I'll be checking shops for gems from now on. I was specifically looking for the earlier dates as I prefer the look. This'll hold the spot til I find the one....
I have put off doing a Dansco 7070. I think your thread may have just put me over the top. Man, you have done a nice job with yours. When my wife rolls her eyes at my new Project, may I blame it on you?
Oh, believe me - even though I'm a 3- or 4-time veteran of the 7070 set, @Lunchbox John makes me want to give it another go! That 1941-D nickel proves he isn't just a master of the "CircCam" concept - he obviously has an innate ability to collect coins with perfect eye appeal, period.
Thanks, Randy! It's a fun work in progress. You have my permission to blame it on me... I'm quite sure that will get you off the hook. That is high praise coming from you, Rob! Thanks! That 41-D was a steal. I'd grade it 66FS+toning worthy of a premium. Paid $8 for it.
One of these days..... I'm gonna catch you napping and buy that Type One SLQ off of ya! I can't get enough of that one. So darned sweet!
@Randy Abercrombie To be honest when I first spotted the one above I thought it was a T1 and my first thought was "Yes I found one like the other, I gotta send this to Randy!" You'd have first dibs if I ever sell the '17, but recently I had my 3 y/o daughter look through my slabbed box and pick her favorite- it was that one so it may have to stick around. Have to say it made me smile that she picked a CircCam over shiny Morgans and everything else in there.
I appreciate that. But yeah. A three year olds heart is vastly more important than my old grizzly heart! That’s hers for sure.
