Me too, except for a brick wall called the 1911-D. I don’t want a weak D, which does narrow the field more than a bit.:wacky:

I bought the strong D. The weak D is not one that I have.

My first US gold coin was also a 1927 $20.

I bought this coin in 1964 when I was 16 years old because I wanted a gold coin.

I sent $50 to a Coin World dealer and received this little gem:

    United States $20 1927

    I still have it.

That is an awesome story. I don't know what's prettier, the coin or the price:)

My 1970 Red Book has the 1927 Saint listed for $110. Ditto the 1924.

By 1970, it was clear that the $35 gold price was not going to hold. The market price had edged above $35 which pressured the U.S. Treasury and the balance-of-payments was about to turn even more negative.

Your coin looks to be MS65 or so....what was then called "Brilliant Uncirculated."
