I have this 1926-S Peace which was graded and wonder, when graded why a VAM was not given to it. There is, what appears to be a die crack from just under the "R" in Liberty and runs all the way, through the "U" in TRUST to the "6" and then stops. VAM experts, help ? Unless I missed it in VAM World, did NGC just miss it ?
Hmm that looks a bit like a roll counting strike. I'm not great on VAMs, so let's wait for the others to give their opinions
Every silver has a vam number, vams are varieties and unless paid to be noted they are not encluded in grading.
Can't see in the photo. Does it have die crack from the tip of the nose s/w to the rim. If it does and coupled with the radial crack then 1926-s VAM 3P might be a place to start looking for other markers on the reverse. Not an expert by any stretch of the imagination but i was trying to Vam one of my own '26s and yours seemed familiar
We need to see if the metal is raised off the surface or scratched into the coin which will probably require a macro lens. Without good pics or an in hand inspection I couldn't tell you more as im not familiar enough with peace dollar VAMS. Hold the coin at an angle to see if its raised off the surface like a mountain range or scratched into the coin like a valley?
