Hello, im new to this forum, and it looks like it got a nice community.
I bought an NGC MS69 set of ASE from 1986-2012 (27 coins) from APMEX not long ago but the coins I got dosen't look good. 2 of them got black dirt/marks and many of the the others milk spots. I have sent APMEX an mail and is still waiting for an reply. Is the MS69 grade supposed to look like this? Im quite new to coin/bullions. Sorry for my english.

  3. Welcome to CT! :welcome: Some ASEs do develop milk spots over time. Sounds like the majority of your set is not in great shape. If you are unhappy with them now, time will only make it worse. I would return them to Apmex ASAP. :) TC

Thanks for you're reply, I appreciate. I don't mind the milk spots that much since I heard its quite common and they don't look that bad, but the 2 coins in the picture are the worst ones. Wil look forward to what APMEX wil say if/when they reply, or if I just can change the worst ones.

  5. My bad. I thought from your post that the majority were flawed and you were unhappy with the lot. I will bet that if you let Apmex customer service know that two of them are unacceptable to you, they will replace them for you. Good luck! TC

Thanks for you're help TopcatCoin. APMEX offered me a refund and I have learned a lesson to stay away from the numismatic part when it comes to bullions, from now I wil collect silver as silver and not worry about spots or flaws.

I think you can also call NGC if you do not agree with the grade, because they are supposed to stand behind any coins that is certified in their holders

I have a NGC PF69UC ASE that looked great 10 years ago. It has "toned" over the years to include milk spots and mostly hazing.

These are not bad photos, this is how the coin looks in-hand. (The scratches are on the holder, the hazing is on the coin).

I would prefer it to look "perfect" like it once did, but I am satisfied that that is bullion, so I am not too upset.

Here is a non-proof bullion coin I had hanging out in packing-taped sealed flip. I left it in basements and attics for past 15 years, and only cut it out recently when I got back into the hobby.

This seems to have weathered the time better than than proof coin in previous post stored in an NGC holder, but there is some unattractive toning near edge (I honestly think that was from a folder I had them in prior to moving when I was still in HS). I have had this coin since 1987, when I was 6!

Thanks for the pictures geekpryde. It was a good example for how the ASE can change or not change over the years. I have already sent mine to APMEX but just want to show the email I got from NGC regarding this issue.

    Dear Mr. Falkum,
Thank you for your email. I would suggest that you send these as an appearance review.

If the grade is ultimately lower than that originally assigned to the coin, NGC shall, at NGC's option, either exchange the coin in question with an equivalent coin at the earlier higher grade or pay the difference between the current fair market value of the coin at the newly established grade and the current fair market value of the grade originally assigned to such coin.

Please feel free to read our grading guarantee at http://www.ngccoin.com/services/writtenguarantee.asp.
If you are not a member of NGC, you can submit your coin by using the attached form. Please use LB5712 as your reference number in the upper right corner of the form.
Please feel free to email or call customer service at 800-642-2646 if we can assist you in the future.
    Thank you,

Where this is going to hit you is when you try to resell the coin most bullion buyers would never pay MS69 premium for this. Would be interesting to see how all these PF70 up looking like a decade down the road.

One of the reasons why they are on way back to the U.S. Still waiting for customs to let the coins out of Norway.
