The real funny part is he's been reported to the ANA who said what he does is fine, and some have even reported him to law enforcement who did nothing and so on, yet years later and people will still claim they're right and everyone else is wrong

Cachecoins, posted: I would rather see him spend his time and effort on truly original work, when he does, it's pretty good. Long ago I was trying to figure out how to proceed in making coins of my own and contacted him to ask how he does it. I didnt no go the same way as I believe he was using a cad program to etch dies with a cnc milling machine (I think that was him, I contacted several people) and I didn't want to invest in one....although I did end up buying a 50 ton press. I thinks its cool to make coins that harken to old designs but overstrikes I don't understand why (whether you think they are forgeries or dangerous or whatever). He has all that cool equipment, he should produce more original stuff...just an opinion...I just wonder why he does that. Gotta respect them made. Not easy minting a coin. I have only minted a handful and each one is a serious chore doing it in the low tech way that I do it. This coin isn't an original design either but I mostly try to stick to original designs."

I'll take a guess. If he strikes a formerly struck coin (overstrike) with any of his dies - similar to a US coin or not - HE DOES NOT NEED TO MAKE A PLANCHET! :D

    I like the reverse also.

I think my favorite work of his is his hard times debt pyramid token. Love it.

Here is my hard times token...vastly inferior to his but I just wanted to make a hard times token. :)

I'm really looking forward to the day when I can acquire one of his creations, whether it be an original design or fantasy over strike.

I only wish I knew of his work 5 or more years ago when it was more affordable.

I didn’t know if I should go with “You people slay me” or “Touché” so I will go with both.

The 64 is 200-300 now. How much much was it out of the box? If you know.
I think I have to get one and more info is always best. Thanks.

There were a few different runs with different die sets, but typically between $75 and $140. He made some "proof" quality over strikes for $175. Quantities vary from about 50 to 500 produced.

Are the proofs the only overstrikes?
    That is the last question
    I promise

Thanks. Finally figured out his site. All he had in “silver” was the triple D war nickel. I’ll post a pic when it gets here.

I find it very funny that here lately his supporters have been dumping his works on the market as well here on CT.
My guess is some have realized that they are going to take a big hit on resale as they loose interest in Carrs works.
To each their own but my numastic budget is focused on "REAL" numismatic items ,that will tend to hold their value not be unloaded as scrap silver.
So like sport cards that market tanked....these to will eventually do the same.
A good friend of mine like a lot of us enjoyed his collection of baseball cards.
I can recall many discussions with him....when he say to me this card is worth X amount of $$$.
At which I reply it only worth what another person is willing to pay!
Plus Topps can print as many as they wish so it isnt like coins where there is a set mintage.
Needless to say like others ...Rick took a major hit when the card market fell.....as those who drank the Carr kool ade have, or will also.

It does not matter what term you use, it's all about attitude "you :bucktooth: people"). We ("you coin collecting :bucktooth: people") are being subjected to your opinions in an open forum.
Since you seem quite educated (I've never, ever, written the "T" word and wouldn't know how to type the "aigu."). I'm suggesting that the next time you are writing up a counterfeit coin that is on your desk you may wish to appear that you actually know something about it.
Coins have three sides if we don't include those with fancy edges. We call one side the reverse. Guessing which is which can be a complicated proposition. Take a look at our vintage commemorative coins.

    Insider,
I know it has a front and a back. I know it has edges. I know you call the front the obverse and the back the reverse and the edges the edges. I can also tell you if I called the front the obverse to a jury without explaining why it’s not called the front, like it is for 99% of people, then that would be a problem because they might get confused or think I’m a snob and you don’t want to piss off the jury.
So if you could kindly explain to me why the back of the coin is not called the back like it is in the rest of society, then that would be great.
    If you know of course.

What you say is probably going to happen - eventually. Lot's of folks took a bath in both coins and bullion in the past also. Some coins have not recovered to their past highs. I finally figured out that if you want to make money in coins there is only one guaranteed way: BUY Right, TURN It as fast as possible for more than you paid, and keep doing it over and over with no intention of keeping any of it. You won't be a collector and you won't have the enjoyment that comes with it no matter the ups and downs of the market or the trends of popularity.

That is why people that make money at “collecting” coins are called coin dealers. I’m glad you final figured that out. It would have sucked for you to go your whole life and miss that detail.
