I guess I should update their wedding album with my new coin ... Otacilia Severa Philip I ... sorry, but I just couldn't resist getting a bit more mileage outta my most recent purchase (my bad)
I must add my Bride of My Favorite Coin (the Groom on my page). http://www.forumancientcoins.com/dougsmith/bride.html But I will challenge all to top this pair also shown lower on that page as 'The Baskets'. When I was a preschooler, one of my friend's last name was Baskette so I used that name for guests at the wedding. Anyone might post a Septimius and a Julia but who else can offer a pair where the two coins share the reverse die? These are not just the same type but the same die was used for each coin. This was done very rarely in the Roman series so you might say that the Basket family should have been twins rather than husband and wife but that did not strike me until well after I had written the Bride page (still one of my favorites). I won't be alive the next time these coins are sold but I really hope they end up with someone who wants to keep them together. Neither coin is common but finding the pair was a matter of dumb luck. Neither coin is unique so it is quite possible that other pairs could be made. Other Emesa reverse dies were shared between the pair so it is possible that someone may have similar sets. Now would be a good time to show them.
