My most expensive foreign coin is this Swiss 5 Batzen, NGC MS-66DPL (W/ Wings), $1400:

Which of course leads us to wonder about your most expensive coin, period. Maybe a fancy gold USA proof or such?
I am a bit like some of the other members here in that I just can't seem to get up for publishing what I paid for this or that, and admire the cojones of those that do!
I do admit to getting carried away by auctions on occasion, however...

For most of my coins, I have no problem sharing what I paid - because many of my coins I bought at auction. All you have to do is search for the coin and the auction results are right there. It's no secret.

I think sharing the price paid for a coin is also very helpful to someone who might want to buy something similar. We get so many questions about "what's it worth?" or "is this a good price?" that it just makes sense... this is what I paid, for you to compare with your situation.

As for my most expensive coin, its actually this 1815/2 Bust Half, NGC EF-45, which I paid $5300 for in 2012 (at Heritage... again, no secret if you just look for it).

    AV Aureus ND (286AD)
    Cyzicus Mint
    Diocletianus
This was graded as FDC by CNG which is a rarity in its self. Bad thing was our useless Canadian dollar at that time was 61 cents US/ exchange rate was $1.62=1US$:(:(:(:(:( IMG_0021.JPG IMG_0023.JPG

Wow, does she have an available sister? LOL. I used to go for some fanciful pieces but have had to step it down slightly in recent years; the excitement of being able to compete at steeper levels I do miss.
Also, I remember the Spink Numismatic Circular from the olde days and getting prepub lists and getting anything I wanted, Yikes!
Here is one (1839 pattern 1/2 sovereign proof struck in silver - 2 known):

    Wish I did....
But/ that coin is way out of my financial means. I think for the sheer number of them appearing around sixbid auctions/ its overhyped/ overpriced. If I did have that type of $$$$ I would MUCH rather try to get this coin....
AV 20 Dukaten 1610 Dresden Mint
    Sachsen/ Albertine Line
    Christian II MUCH rarer and nicer coin/ same $$$$ 600K c089249eef395c2a4bcee3b189de11ac (3).jpg

Me too, 100% agree with you. But, my collection isn't even in the same solar system as yours, lol. I'm not complaining, I am very glad for you, and I love the coins that I have! Extremely Blessed!

It's no secret what I paid for it, but you'll have to look. Interesting topic, sort of like "how rich are you?", but I'll never spend this much on a coin again and maybe a lot of responders are the same.

I will note that however much of a stretch some coins dictated to purchase I have seldom regretted getting them.

    Beautiful coin!

Yeah rarely do I spend $335-$575 on a coin and probably never will again but I was aiming to complete the Peace Dollar and Hawaii sets. I really didn't want a cleaned coin so that's why I spent more.
