Got to be in it to win it. I see your passion. Your coins are so different. I’ll never see those coins again. Thanks
I no longer have any of the world coins I paid the most for; I sold them all years ago to Stack's Bowers. But this is what my records say I paid for them, mostly in 1986 when I got a little bit carried away: $700: James I Hammered gold Unite (20 shillings), 1607/09, S.2619, VF/EF, 4/11/86 $700: Charles II gold Guinea, 1680, S.3344, Ch. VF. 5/19/86, Steinberg's $650: Elizabeth I gold Crown (5 shillings), 1560/61, S.2522, VF-EF, 5/1/86, Malcolm Bord $630: William & Mary silver Crown, 1691 (Tertio), S.3433, nr. VF/VF, 4/10/00 $550: George IV gold Two Pounds, 1823, S.3798, VF/EF, 6/13/86, Malcolm Bord $500: Victoria gold Two Pounds, 1893, S.3873, 6/13/86, Malcolm Bord $425: James I Hammered gold Half Laurel (10 shillings), 1624, S. 2461A, VF+, 9/6/86, Karl Stephens Inc. $425: James II gold Guinea, 1685, S.3400, VF, 6/19/86, Steinberg's. I can't imagine what it would cost me to replace all of these. I probably don't want to know!
You had some really nice coins back then I would bet most would cost ten fold today. English/ British really gotten hot in past 5 years. John
$1450.00 for a 1909-S VDB. I hid the darn thing in bedroom, over 10 years ago. Forgot where I hid it.
£475 4 years ago. Think I paid a bit too much. This does not count the 1 oz. bullion type coins I merely regard as gold bullion.
You have seen this one before, and I think it would fit right in with your collection, John. 1923 M sovereign, I gave a bit over $500 for it less than a year ago.
Nice Melbourne Sovereign I went to check mine, and found that I still need a George V M sov!!!! I always thought I had all the George V type from all mints. Thanks to you, I now know I do not....
