ERIC-II is definately making previous books kinda obsolete. Many new discoveries/ revisions make this a must have book. 4272425-4245164-eric2-a.jpg

At the current price it may be OK for those with no other books but I stand by my original review of ERIC II. It hardly makes previous books obsolete.

ERIC II lists coins but has relatively little about them. The photos show one side of a coin type rather than complete coins. I did not take the time to learn to use the difficult tables and see no need for still another numbering system. There is a lot of good in the book but most of its tonnage is wasted (IMO) on tables generating a catalog number no one will use.

What reference would you recommend more, Sear or RIC? I'm a beginner and I would really like a book that has an easy way to look up a coin you are trying to identify.

For beginners, there is no book better than the internet. There are so many good resources out there that are freely accessible. Save buying books until you find something that really interests you. Until then... the internet is where it’s at. :) just my opinion.
