Wow! If I remmeber right I thought that a coin sold about 2-5 years ago in auction for about 9-11 Million. I think it was a 1804 Silver Dollar. From what it said there are only 4 left.

The 1000 mohur was stuck by Jahangir (1605 - 1627) Mughal ruler of India. Until it turned up in 1987 it was only known to have existed from contemporay writings and a cast of the piece that was in the British Museum. (contemporary records account for at least three pieces being made) It turned up along with a 100 Mohur piece of his son Shah Jahan (fifh Mughal ruler 1628 - 1658). I don't know when the 1000 Mohur was struck but the 100 Mohur was 1639.

The 1000 Mohur coin was 20.3 cm in diameter and weighed 11,935.8 grams. The 100 Mohur was 9.5 cm in diameter and weighed 1094.5 grams. They were authenticated by Dr Michael Bales, Islamic Curator of the American Numismatic Society.

They were put up for auction in late 1987 in Switzerland, I don't have the name of the auction house at hand. The 100 Mohur was bid to $3,000,000 ($3,450,000 with buyers premium) against a reserve of 4 million. The 1000 Mohur was bid to $8,000,000 ($9,200,000 with the juice and note this is 14 years before the 1933 double eagle and at the time no other coin had yet broken the million dollar mark.) against a reserve of ten million dollars. Even with these offers having been made the onsignor chose to keep the coins and not sell them. They have not reappeared since then. As far as I can tell they are owned by someone named Mukarrum Jah. This is a picture of the 1000 Mohur
