So what are you actually saying? I have quite decent examples of many 40s and 50s. Off hand I need a few 70s and better examples of a few. And of course a 2009P.
In 68, 69, and 70, nickels were not minted in Philadelphia. Only D and S were released for circulation.
I was given to believe it was 65-67. If it goes all the way to 70 for nickels that changes things. I'm in bed about to go asleep. I'll do more research tomorrow.
Hey, folks, remember the rules -- no buy/sell solicitation except in the For Sale and Want Lists forums.
Well that changes things. 65-67 no mint mark. 68-70 only D and S mint marks. I have 69D and 70D. Just need a 68D, 72P to be complete from 60D to 2008P.
In 65,66,67 coins did not have mint marks. When they changed from silver to clad after 1964, people started hoarding the silver and there was a shortage. The no mint mark coins were to discourage people from coin collecting varieties. I have been told by more educated members of this site, that the Denver and San Fran mints were still producing coins during these years, but all the coins appear to be Phillies. And then in 68,69 and 70 the nickel only had D or S mm and no Phillies. But the cent, dime and quarter were made at all 3 mints in 68-70. I hope that adds some confusion.
