Does anyone know of an internet image gallery or book or some type of compilation of the world most attractive banknotes? Aesthetics are objective but it's commonly agreed upon that some banknotes are more attractive than others. If no compilation like this exists, what are some opinions here? The 1964 Algeria 100 Dinars is one of my favorites:
I did have a website with some of my assorted banknotes with lovely ladies on them, but my ISP changed plans and I have never bothered to reload all the html again and probably won't. Here are some favourites though:
A modern that I have spent more than a few of, I like them better than the previous smaller sized 200 Hrv notes:
I haven't seen a web site or book on the subject, but the thread seems to come up every couple years. I really like the French Pacific 10,000 note SM posted, but here's a couple of my offerings: Dave
all the ones posted are quite beautiful. i know i have a few of them. here are some of my favorites i own
The continent of Africa sort of monopolizes modern notes with lots of colour and fascinating designs:
ABNCo bought out Homer Lee Banknote Company in the 1880s and acquired their multicolour printing techniques that were used for fantastic notes like this:
A wonderful idea for a thread! Here's a few that I think are rather attractive: Belgium - Ghana - Morocco - Portugal - Switzerland -
I still own a few foreign notes that are appealing...I have not scanned all of them so I will post the only one I do have scanned.. My son's Astrological Sign is "LEO" so thus the Bank Note. Enjoy...
RickieB - the Lion and Key note is one of my favourite British notes - just a very lovely design that had a tall order to replace a classic white fiver that had been used for over 160 years. Here is one that exemplifies some of the best of Giesecke & Devrient printing, they printed Uruguayan banknotes into the 1930s:
Indeed the Printing is superb! The Engraving and design are fantastic as well...I will have to Reference the International Engravers Line to see if more info is available as well. Thanks for posting a truly beautiful piece. (Forgive my lack of knowledge on Foreign Notes...it was not my primary area of study) Is it my tired eyes not seeing any "planchets" on this note or were they yet introduced at time of printing for this Bank Note?
