I inherited a coin collection and I was never a collector prior. I have these two Morgans (1921 and 1892-P).. I'm wondering the value of each. The 1921 is inside plastic in a postcard (the plastic is minorly scratched up)...but the coin appears to be uncirculated. The 1892-P is in a flip - with 3 different grade marks on it.?.? > One was whited out. > One reads "EF". > One reads "MS65" ....but these are merely inked on gradings....not professionally graded, I'm assuming. Also...is Cointrackers.com a good site to get value estimates?? Thanks in advance! Sherry
I'm no expert on Morgan dollars but I can tell you from the pics that you provided those are circulated coins not uncirculated.IMO wait for others to chime in. Dave
The '21 looks high XF-ish, maybe about uncirculated, and is worth roughly $18-20 retail. That year is very common. The 1892 has high vf details but, unfortunately, appears to have green pvc damage. Remove that with an acetone bath, and you have a $20-25 coin. Nothing super valuable, but a nice inheritance.
In my opinion, the 1921 is au details, but it is cleaned. The 1892 is f-vf, i would say vf-20. Cointrackers.com is not good for pricing, as it only gives a broad estimate for unspecific grades.
OK...thank you for your responses. Aside from cointrackers.com.....which site would you recommend for looking up coin values? (Especially for a newb!) lol
