I'd sure like to have one of those old canvas bags!

I would've loved to just go through those bags, even if I didn't get to keep the coins!

Edit: I wonder how this will affect the O mint Morgan values

I'm willing to bet it won't affect values a bit, except for the hoard coins themselves, which will be sold at a substantial premium with a hoard attribution on their slab.

I bought a ms 66 1904 O a couple years ago... I think it was 100 then. Just a couple months later, old banker dies and they find a hoard of MS 1904 o's... Now they go for like, 75-90.

Oh well, just how the game goes.

In the early 60's, the 1903-O was thought to be really scarce in uncirculated condition, and the coin was selling for $150 or so. Then came the Treasury release, and bags of the '03-O were discovered. Prices plummeted!

I think it went from $1,500 to like $30 in a few months.

These obviously came from the Federal Reserve storage in Atlanta, delivered thru the First National Bank of Atlanta in/around 1960. Blaise Dantone advertised the better dates (obtained by the bag) as "Uncirculated Morgan Dollars at 1% of Red Book" -- 1903-O with RB listing $1500, offered for $15 each.

Those dates will all stop in price, especially in higher grades. I'd sure like to go through those bags.
