They're nice. I don't understand the allure of vams though. It's just another trivial niche of US collecting IMO. I've owned some common date Morgans, a few Uncs, a few circulated but problem free and I enjoyed them. I don't have any right now but whenever they're close to spot and without problems I would try and get one or 2. They got a timeless beauty. If you want something to complain about, why not the Susan B Anthony? I'd start there lol
Vams are much, much more than a trivial niche. At it's heart it's about identifying the exact 2 dies that struck each coin. An ongoing process like a challenge with no guarantee of success. And along the way, if you're good enough you can make quite a bit of $$ cherrypicking clueless dealers or auction listings. It's like low hanging fruit that nobody else sees
How could I deny Starsky? This is my favorite, it's only a PR-64, but it sure is purdy with her golden toning and bright fields. There is little cameo, but otherwise a lovely example.
Sexy! Tell me you have an 81. If/when I get a proof I want an 1881... but I'll settle for a 95 if I have to
I'll trade you my 81 for the 95. This is a PR-64 as well, but not nearly the same quality as the other.
The sunnywood quote was entirely in jest. I do like Morgan dollars. I buy them almost entirely by toning and eye appeal rather than date tho I do like the better date and cc coins. However in comparison to many coins I feel them highly overrated especially in terms of rarity. In particular to trade and seated dollars both of which I really love. But I'd take a Morgan over ANY coin with a dead president on it
the group (albeit very small) responds "Hi John!" Some of us just lack the expertise to appreciate the beauty of this big, heavy, silver United States coin. Coffee and cookies in the back of the room for you newcomers.
I dont mind morgans, I particularly like the reverse, but the Obverse doesnt do it for me. I can respect people liking them, but they really arent my cup of tea.
Hello, nice collection. Can I ask; I have 2 uncirculated morgans in those blue Global Slabs. Do you know anything about that company(Global), and were they legit?? Bill
Thas the only one I own but I believe they're somewhat common. I'm not sure if they're in @Conder101's slab book, haven't looked yet although I should. But they're not a grading service, more like a promotional encasment company
