Hello all! First post here. I have just recently begun to look into error coins and was just wondering what may have caused this. I hope you can see from the pictures. On the obverse of the coin, on the rim just above "E PLURIBUS" there is a recession that looks like partial letters. The same holds true on the reverse side of the coin under "One Dollar" you can clearly see the top half of the word "Of". I really hope you guys can see it. I can see it in the pics but i know exactly what I'm looking at. It is my opinion that this was caused by another Morgan Dollar being pressed onto both sides of this coin. (Perhaps not intentionally) Just really wanted to see what you guys thought about it. Thanks for any help.

Agree with you, looks to just be damage from other coins.

If it's an indentation, it's caused by a squeeze job with another coin.

The marks on the rim of the reverse appear to be ordinary circulation damage. The marks on the rim of the obverse above "UR" could have been caused by another Morgan in a bag. Keep in mind that each $1000 bag weighs about 70 lbs. Now, try to imagine 1000 bags being stacked on a pallet ready for shipment. We often see Morgans with denticle impressions on them. I doubt that it was a "squeeze job".

Ok, well maybe not a squeeze job exactly, but still caused by another coin being pressed against it. Same kind of thing.

Not really! One is accidental and the other is intentional.
