7 grand is crazy talk for that coin, I don't care how toned it isw or how beautiful. I've only paid a premium on toned coins a few times.

I totally agree. It's a nice looking coin, but $7000 is outrageous. I wonder if anyone will pay.

All of the Battle Creek coins are graded by NGC. The top row is all NGC MS64* as is the bottom row left. The other two are NGC MS65*. I took the pictures and used photoshop to create the collection pictured above. Here is photo of one of the slabs.

The BC Morgan for $7,000 is a known coin that was one of the prettiest pieces out of the entire Battle Creek Collection. It is worth a lot more than most of the other Battle Creek Morgans, let alone regular Morgans. Greysheet has no relavance for a coin like this.

Now, wheter or not the coin is actually worth $7,000 is a whole other question.

Well they have not one, but 3 different BC Morgan's for sale on their site for $7,000+. And if they think they are going to sell any of the three with those photos, they are out of their minds. I can see a coin like this going for anywhere from $2,000-$5,000 depending upon the mental state of the prospective buyer, but $7,000 for an MS64 is in a word, insane.

However, I would spend $7,000+++ on a Morgan like this one. They should actually name this coin "THE MONSTER" 1881-S PCGS MS68

If you can find a doctor with the brass to practice his trade on an MS68 Morgan, show him the photo above and tell him that is my order and I will pay $15,000 if it passes the NGC graders without a body bag.

And those are just photos, imagine what those coins look like in hand. Those coins represent the pinnacle of rainbow toning. One day, I am gonna have one like them.

Nice color. But, just out of curiosity, what will a coin with that much oxidation look like in 20 years? For 7 grand I'd want my coin to remain looking rather nice for at least the rest of my life. Do they continue until they turn the horrid browns and brass that some tone to?
