OK, maybe I've become too cynical. With all the talk about Chinese counterfeits floating around, every time a new poster says "I got this silver/trade dollar, what do you think?" and it doesn't look right, I look for things that don't match up with what I know. It's like doing those "find the differences in the pictures" puzzles in the newspaper. If something doesn't match up, I get suspicious.

Here, the '21 Morgan doesn't look right. So I pay particular attention to the details in the pictures here.

In 1921, there were subtle changes made in the original Morgan design. The most obvious changes are the breast feathers on the eagle. However, it also seems that there are subtle differences in the eagle's wing feathers. In my 1921 Morgans, there are two lines dividing groups of feathers running down the wing on the left side close to the breast, just like in previous years. These lines are easily seen in the photo "Wing4". However, one of the lines is not so easily seen in the other three photos (although it can be easily seen in hand, when held at the right angle). In photos I've taken of pre-21 Morgans, this line is much more apparent than in the photos of the 21's.
