I need again your help for a coin from an user of italian forum lamoneta.it.

I know that 1889 is probably the rarest Morgan minted in Carson City, and by photo I have doubts about his authenticity. The weight is 26.6 gr. and the diameter 38 mm. (but not with very exact tools).

    Thanks for your help.

I know very little about Morgans, but I had to post to let you know that the title of your thread made me laugh.

huh, interesting "from an user of italian forum lamoneta.it." To buy a raw Morgan at the price range would be too risky for me. Alright. Well to me the lettering does not look as crisp as it should be and there is definitely something going on with the toning (and those diagonal lines on the reverse in the fields around the eagle???) But to be 100% sure send it NGC or PCGS

If it is a Chinese fake, it is a good one!

Not authentic. Several things are very crude--spacing on E Pluribus Unun is all wrong, and the date is too far right. Eagle is NOT symmetrical with the wreath. Strike is poor and clumsy. Bejing, not Carson City for sure.

Really, no one should consider an 1889 CC Morgan that is raw, unless they really know Morgans extremely well. Same goes for about 5 or 6 other dates, as they're so often counterfeited.

    Great thread title.

I don't like the rim, the date, mint mark, or the eagle. Color looks weird to me also. I'm far from being an expert though.
