    Constantius II AE-3

    Valentinian I AR Siliqua
    364-67 CE
    Rome mint
One of my personal favorites, probably due to the fact that Emperor Valentinian vacillated between Rome and Mediolanum in the early years of his reign.

It seems to me that when the horseman is off the horse and kneeling on the ground as here, then he is truly "fallen." But while he is still on the horse he is, as John Kent tended to say, "falling." This is a true fallen horseman, and that makes it special. Right?

I love the FHs and usually can't help myself when one pops up for sale. These posts are like a good therapy session.

    22-21 mm. 4.20 grams.
This one seems to be a "fallen" horseman as opposed to a "falling" horseman.
Do I detect a Trier mintmark? There is an "A" behind the bust in the later stages at western mints.
