. Well I will never own one I guess. Thanks for the information. You said you own thousands of large cents. Did you inherit all of those too?
I don't remember exactly but around 1500 give or take. These days my focus is on 1793 - 1814. Mainly buying 1794's to get as many varieties as possible. I buy around 10 - 20 coins per month.
I've seen this misunderstanding of supply economics in other areas. One that comes to mind is animal activists who "rescue" meat animals (chickens, pigs, etc). They obtain a few and think that the total number that will be slaughtered will be decreased. Breeders will happily produce the same number for slaughter plus some additional for "rescue". The way to decrease supply of something undesirable is to decrease demand or create direct negative impacts on producers. Cal
Thanks Cal, now I'm hungry for a burger. Seriously coins are not the only thing that's faked. Anything that will make a dollar will continue to be faked. I bought six total over the last 20 years and my point is they will be exact copies in the not to distant future. If everyone stopped buying, they would still continue to improve their products until a buyer is found.
I'm retired, worked hard all my life so I buy what I enjoy. Kids would like the cash when I pass but all that will be left are thousands of old cents. Not all the coins I buy are 1794's. I cherry pick varieties of mainly 1794 - 1803. I've bought 4 1794's so far this month.
