More 67 DDO

  1. Good Evening:
I am posting some more photos of what I think is a 1967 DDO Lincoln cent. I had a couple of people wanting to see some less magnified shots. A couple of people indicated that they did not see any doubling. After researching the 1967 on-line, one of the reoccurring statements is that it not easily seen. I have carded the coin and have tried to tilt the coin to get better images of doubling. If you look at the G in GOD, both of the R's there are some definite "levels" in the metal. No matter what - I will keep them and if I become a little more convinced truly are acceptable examples - will put them on Ebay

I'm heading to bed. I'm tired but I'm just not seeing anything special here and no Doubled Die.

If you look at the G in GOD notice that the top portion is one thickness and the bottom portions are both thinner than the top. A true doubled die is one normal thickness and part of the second thickness. Die doubled image do not become smaller unless it is mechanical doubling and unfortunately, I think that is what it is in both situations you mention. IMO. Jim

If you should decide to list this on FleaBay, there is one thing you will know for sure. That is that the buyer knows less than you do.
