All I can say is I wish there were more dealers like you Matt. There are many, don't get me wrong, but unfortunately not all are.
they are that blue. its not a camera trick. 2 sets look like that, one a lot more than the other. at least in natural light.
Great find! The dealer probably didn't pay for T2's and priced them so he made something on them. If you told the dealer, do you think he would go back to where he bought them and correct his mistake?
Numismatics is like fictional sorcery, everyone collector and dealer alike hoards the majority of their knowledge and secrets... ;-) It is all part of the game and the dealers know this better than any of us amateurs. I have been buying for years from several LCSs, I have kept a poker face every time I a have ever entered. period. some times I break even with what I buy and keep and once in awhile I have scored coins that I purchased for less than $50 bucks and actually sold for $100-$800. I have not told them a single of my secrets... Upon my last visit, I was discussing something about the discount bins with the Owner of the shop and he said, " Go ahead and find a treasure in there, if ya do, I don't want to know, but good for you ;-) ", my customary reply as always was " Sometimes times I get something decent, sometimes I lose, I just have a good time searching ".
I never tell my lcs when i find something good. However i wouldnt try to sell it back to him at the price of the variety. I would take it to another shop and flip it
Ok this guy is right, I've never done that and yes that would definitely cost you some karma points,,, funny, but evil!
About the last thing a dealer wants to hear is that he's been 'cherried' so wise indeed to keep your cards close to your chest Xcelsior.....
HA! this is what my wife said i should do! i should offer to cherry pick his stuff FOR him a couple hours a week in the evening for some store credit. i had to tell a few of his guys the difference between 70 s small and large dates. none of them had any idea what bashlow restrikes were. FFS one of the SBA cases has a type 2 sticker on it! i dont know if i love this shop, or hate it, now that i think about it! i have been collecting since march, they own a coin shop. but like i said, it seems to be focused more on bullion and gold as of late. more like a pawn shop feel now.
