There was that old Billy Idol remake of "MONET MONET" that I danced to at weddings. This is either not that exciting or way more exciting. I picked it up at a Heritage Auction recently and found it to pair nicely with my MONETA from later in his reign.

    Septimius Severus, Denarius, MONET AVG
    AR Denarius
    Septimius Severus
    Augustus: 193 - 211AD
    Issued: 197AD
    18.5mm 3.21gr
O: L SEPT SEV PERT AVG IMP VIII; Laureate head, right.
R: MONET AVG; Moneta standing facing, head left, scales in right hand, cornucopia in left hand.
    Laodicea ad Mare Mint
    RIC 484a; RSC 332; BMC 448-9.
    Aorta: 641: B3, O57, R206, T126, M3.
Heritage Auctions Auction 231745; Lot 62089

I thought it was neat to have one from his sole reign and one from his reign with Caracalla.

As per the usual, here is the Septimius Severus collection as a whole:

@maridvnvm I have seen the reference entries for the Sever legend variant but have not had the opportunity to buy a coin. Speaking of legends, the legends on these coins, mine seem crudely done or possibly suffer as a whole from weak strikes.

Since you brought Billy Idol into this, here is a Mone with no T from the 'Emesa' mint. These mints had a lot of die variations.

The variations are interesting. I’ve never seen this many in one group before. Thanks to those who have shared so far!
