I don’t understand how it seems the same people get through every time and the same people like me get shut out. There’s got to be something to it. I just wrote their customer service and screamed. The household order limit should be one at this rate. Would still experience the same process but might actually get through.
I'll post my technique here, and hope that it doesn't spread around too much -- I get the order process going in several windows or tabs at the same time, sometimes even on different devices. With (eventually) three tabs where I was making the attempt, I had roughly three times the odds of getting through.
It took 30 minutes of trying to get an O privy. Bad gateways, page not found, and the coin being taken out of my shopping cart. But I succeeded. Right after that, I saw the coin was unavailable. I lucked out, I suppose. Peace dollar day should be charming.
I finally signed up for the ASE enrollment so I dont forget to buy them. That said, days like this are why I remind myself that I dont buy novelty things from the mint lol
It took me around 10 minutes but I managed to add 5 of each to my cart. With only 175K mintage for Morgan’s in .999 purity with no bag marks, I think they will end up being worth more than I paid for them. This was a lot easier than the V75 Silver Eagle.
I think it is the speed of the connection and web usage in our area. Also having multiple screens open prior to the release time. From work I almost always get one, from home it use to be hit or miss evenly. Now we have 1gig fiber at home so I should be good in either location.
I always liked their little packaged magic tricks, kind of like the one I pulled this morning on the Mint site.
I did. They're horrible coins and greatly overpriced, but a dealer friend said he would take care of me if I ordered 10 each of them for him. He paid me $500 over invoice on the palladium Merc a few years ago, he's pretty fair about it. The Merc soared to $2800 then settled back about at what I got paid for it. He hasn't committed to what he will pay on the Morgan Dollars, just said "I'll take care of you". If I get $125 a coin I'll be pretty happy with the arrangement.
First, it told me the item was unavailable, and my attempt to sign into my account errored as wrong user name. Forget it. I'm done.
Yeah, they're definitely overwhelmed Order History Order History is currently offline. Please check again at a later time.
It gave me Gate way error server then had 10 CC's during check out and crash went to the i-pad there it is in my check out? So i got lucky. I always wanted to see a Morgan done with today's technology no full strike and no bag marks. I would like to have the Peace dollar as well. The US Mint has some serious issues.
I don't have an account with them, I always order as a guest. Being signed-in might actually slow down their server just enough that everyone else zipped past you. I think the real trick is to have a broadband connection that is faster than the next guy, and then use multiple tabs as a few others have described. I did a reload on both the CC and O page at exactly 9:00 PST and then ordered each coin from separate tabs. When I selected "Check-Out" on the second tab, it had both coins listed as being in my basket. Took 5 attempts to get address information to be captured and about 8 attempts to get credit card info captured, but I did eventually get a confirmation page.
I had two of each in my cart and, after putting in my card number, they both *poofed* out of my bag. Bummer.
