    geez, I go on vacation . . .

    Howdy all,

Sorry I missed the fireworks. I go on vacation and come back to some sort of bruhaha.

I was not privy to the thread in question, but will unequivocally support the moderators. This is NOT negotiable.

If someone doesn't care for the way the moderators do their job, find some other place to play.

However, with all this said, we ALL need to try and be more understanding and tolerant of some of the newer collectors. Folks around here make me feel like a rookie and I've been collecting for 50 years. That's OK, I've got a lot to learn - and a thick skin ;-).

But, courtesy and being polite can go a LONG way towards heading off nasty threads. And hey, I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't need it in my life. Life's tough enough when folks get along.

    peace,

    rono

I dont allways agree with what the mods do, and make no bones about letting them know LOL but I will say this they are human and as such sometimes make errors, so why not just cut them a bit of slack, they do a bloody good job (As a ex Mod I know some of the crap that comes there way)

Roy,there is a way that you can track their IP address. If you place their IP address onto a list of numbers that are blocked, then the spammers cannot use that IP address to spam,as they'd probably get a message to say that they've been banned as soon as they get to the main page.

You can ban an IP address but some people do not keep the same IP---mine might change alot every day---while that is a good idea and Peter does that it doesn't keep the spamers out.

Also to everyone else---I just want to say that I agree with what Roy did---while we are just normal people and do mess up some of the coments needed to be deleted from the thread and it is one heck of a job to go through and pull out the good ones from the bad ones.
Like I said the other day---keep the feedback coming---at least for me! I love to hear what others think!

Speedy,as soon as I see spam being posted,I always go straight to the white triangle with the red border & click on it.Typing the word 'SPAMMER!' in the message field should be enough to raise an alert.

So,if anyone else sees spam,go straight to that triangle & report the spammers. Then that way we can all assist the moderators in keeping Cointalk cleaner for a while.

Doug21, can you be more specific about what your problem with the mods is??? I personally have disagreed with them on a couple of occasions, but for the most part I think they do pretty well.

Actually, it is the dedication of all of those that take the time to hit the report button that keeps this a pleasant place to gather.

If we (moderators) had to search every thread and every post, just to see if there was anything wrong, it would be way too time consuming for us, and we'd still overlook a lot of bad content.

I'd like to thank all of you who care enough to report questionable posts.
You are the people who deserve the credit, and who have earned my respect.

    Thanks, folks.

Spock1k,that's for dobbing in the spammers who post their junk throughout the whole board.

The Mods are doing just fine

I "chat" on only one site and this is it.

What I see is a bunch of honest collectors sharing opinions and interests as well as helping one another out. The "mods" even kick in their opinions and I think that is way cool.

I can be VERY opinionated myself and tend to ramble. Hey, I type like I talk but nobody has told me to shut up yet. If a mod DOES tell me to shut up I will guess that I've bent the rules and deal with it.

This is a great place to be. If one can't appreciate it go elsewhere, start your own site or get a blog.

Keep up the good but thankless work Mods.

Ok, Now I have to respond. My take on the moderators of this forum.

First off, Hats off to Peter. I dont think that most of the people on here understand what it takes to put something like this together. Time, Money, Patience and the ability to pick the correct people to help him police this site.

The moderators here do an outstanding job. Some have a different way of expressing themselves and thats GOOD. I again say hats off to the moderators.. Well all but one of them.

Now for that one. SPEEDY.. I think that speedy would be a much better moderator is he would send me his Franklin collection. ( TONGUE IN CHEEK HERE )

Moderators, all of you. Your doing a great job, it is however a thankless job. I am letting you know that it is appreciated and a big Thank you to all of you.

Ruben,I think that it is time to close down this thread,as it is getting a bit long in the tooth,as it were.We know what a good job the moderators do.It doesn't need to be spelt out again.

    Aidan.
