Modern vs. Ancient!!

It might be hard to believe, but you are often wrong (sometimes VERY wrong). I would have said the same thing in this thread if it was anyone else saying that demand is 'everything' when it comes to coin value. I stated my opinion, why I think its wrong, accept it or not...saying its fact doesnt make it so.

Like when you said a so called 'vest pocket dealer' or part time dealer is not a dealer. I post the definition of a dealer which has no mention of full time or part time. you were wrong of course but instead of simply saying this was just your personal opinion with no real basis in fact...you instead say 'ask any full time coin dealer if they think a part time coin dealer is a real dealer'...this of course was complete irrelevant as it doesnt matter what a coin dealer thinks a dealer is...you either deal coins or you don't. Don't get me started on your sage advice about cleaning coins, statements like 'A coin can never be improved by cleaning'

Believe it or not I disagree with you when I think you are wrong and only then. Often I let it pass. Beleive it or not, most times I agree with you.

In this case, I am not talking about exceptions to any rule...I am saying that like most things, there is no absolute answer to how and what creates coin value. Just like coin cleaning, it is often case by case and many aspects are involved. For every coin that you say is expensive because of demand I could post one that is expensive because it is rare, outstanding, or both. What gives a coin value depends on many different factors, factors I have touched on here.

Certainly demand is one of those many factors but by far is not the only one...depending on the coin, different factors may have importance over others and demand might be less important or not at all. If it was anyone else making what I felt to be a far over simplified (or just wrong) statement, I would have said the same thing. I was saying demand is not 'everything', it is one factor that could be a major factor in some cases. You are not the only one that apparently believes this so you are not the only one my statement was contradicting. From my experience its is just plain false.
