    There was a cent that was pressed into it where you can see the letters "Cent" backwards = a vise job.

    But they are right side up so impossible to be a vice job that would be upside down if done in a vice

    I have seen this before its damage a master fake error coin and can you explain how this would happen at the mint? have there been any true error coins like this/certified and sold?I don't think so.letters backwards or forward vice job or not it just seems to be a damaged coin thats the truth And even though you said it has been in your grandfather's collection keep it for sentimental value and memory.

    The letters CEN are upside down. You can see that the N is backwards. C and E look normal because they look the same upside down. It was caused by one coin on the other and a very strong force was applied.

    What do you mean by "manipulation"? Are you suggesting that it happened at the Mint?

    It was part of his grandfathers collection so it HAS to be a Mint Error! :bored:

    When the lettering is reversed, it is usually man made and not a mint error.
    Ask Fred Weinberg he can probably explain it.

    @Fred Weinberg
    Let's see if he sees this thread.

    Mike Diamond has already told us it is Post Mint Damage.

    Paddy, I think your first thoughts were correct. Either this is a very interesting brockage error or a very good Chinese fabrication.

    Either way, I think its worth hanging on to.
