Update: New charge pending on my banking account for new proof, but credit hasn't posted from returned proof - figures! No message from mint yet whether or not new coin shipped.

Update: Recieved the coin back today. Wow! Less than a one month turn around - considering that they "lost" it for two weeks. This one is much better than the first one I had. There are one or two tiny marks only seen with a loupe. OK - so it won't get that 70 grade that I was hoping for, but I'm not sending it in so it doesn't matter. There is a speck on Ms. Monroe's upper lip. I'm calling this the "Cindy Crawford" Variety. :mouth: Enjoy.

    Glad all went well.

I find that frustrating that "particulate" can get inside the capsule for a proof of this nature and cost. I think all but one of mine have at least one particulate spec inside the capsule.

I always get ticked about that same thing.

Also, this is not completely over with yet. There is still a charge for the coin pending on my banking account. Although, the charge has not completely gone through, it is tying money up in my account. If they are going to charge me - that's fine - but they are going to give me a credit for the returned coin as well.

New Update: Just when you thought everything was taken care of, it doesn't end. I checked my bank account this morning and yep! the mint charged me - again. No credit yet. Can't wait for 8AM to roll around. Someone is getting a phone call.

you need to take them to the out house and explain things . then for a short trip up the hollow. don't forget to give them a taste of shine to help with the oain.

Well, in the end I didn't have to get the Boone County Mafia after them! (Local WV joke :D) I looked on-line at my account and the credit went in today. Whewwww! Nearly two full months and we are done. All's well, that ends well. That was my first experience with a return with the mint and I hope it will be my last. Thanks everyone who has listened (or read) my rants over the past few months. I am just glad that it is now over. Joe

    Glad things are resolved!

Not sure if this is possible, but I try at all cost to use a credit card for purchases from the mint, etc. That way if there's a dispute or the kind of ordeal of return and replace you went through, they can't suck actual funds out of your hands. With a cc, you can always file a complaint and get fees/interest/charges suspended pending an investigation. It is one of the few benefits of using plastic, IMO.

    :)
The FS are a pretty series. Much nicer artwork than the dead presidents.
