So sorry to ask so many questions, and hello there error seekers and wizards, I seek thy knowledge on this particular MS65 1944 D Mercury Dime. I lack the knowledge to fully understand what the implications are specifically what it means is there is an error on the coin. I have spotted a weird blot out on this coin. Due to this and my pondering at the situation, I have done the following, provided a photograph of the spot I have noticed with the highest resolution and the best lighting I could provide and a description based of my observation of the article myself. I have also included a second photograph which is my best attempt at creating a 2D outline of the anomaly as well. Could anyone explain to me what this is exactly this is? Specimen has a protrusion approximately < 0.20 MM (it could be substantially less, but it is obvious to me that it is only raised around half the thickness of a guitar pick) It has two tendrils shaped like a crack). Its location is to the top right of the letter B in the phrase Liberty. It curves almost in a radial pattern. But then as its radius changes, the thickness decreases. The overall protrusion spans nearly 80% of the gab between the letters B and E. Is this a cracked die? Or is it something else? Thank you all for your time, and happy hunting!
