PCGS also has a somewhat poor reputation on attributions, but at least in recent years they have extended their guarantee to cover them. I think putting their money where their mouth was has helped them improve on their attributions.

Those people who collect based on labels rather than on personal knowledge. And such collectors do exist.

Agreed, but I’d expect anybody spending $2000 or more on a coin to verify the variety first.
