NOOOOOOOOO!!!!! If this is a genuine cutting error, which sounds likely, the star definitely makes it cooler/more valuable than if this relatively minor error happened on a non-star note. Since the whole point of stars is to replace mis-printed notes, it is cool when they are mis-printed themselves.
This was his message to me - Oh, sorry!! Yes, and he told me this was an mis-cut in the currency overprint stage. All stages were in register including the seal and serial numbers. The process which then cuts into single notes was where the error occurred. He told me this should have been caught immediately and should not have gotten out. That means it is a rare error. Having part of the once adjacent note on the edge is very cool AND it means there is another mis-cut note out there missing some print,
Thanks a ton for all of the feedback everybody! Should I advise them to get the note graded? I'm not sure whether it is something that they would want to sell or not, but is there a way to ballpark what kind of price they could expect for this kind of thing?
