I was sorting through more wheat pennies than a human ever should, and always check for repunched mintmarks and over mintmarks. I use the Lincoln Cent Resource webpage as my guide. I noticed that on the 1953-D RPM that the mintmark was directly under the 5, instead of between the 9 and the 5 like on most of them. This got me wondering, is the location of the mintmark ever considered a variety?

In 1953 the Mint Marks were hand punched into the Obverse Die..
I guess they tried their best to always punch it into the same area.. but did not every once in a while.. Nice RPM!
