An amazing overstrike of a Roman provincial coin. One of the very best overstrikes and remarkably clear.
Severus Alexander at Sidon. 25 mm. One coin, photographed in each orientation.
At the upper left you can see the top of the head right opposite the temple seen on the lower two.
At the upper right you can see the cart of Sidon (with nice wheels) that goes with the head of Alexander on the lower two.
Very rarely will you see an overstrike as clear as this one with the undertype so strong. Overstrikes a common in Byzantine coins. Not so much in provincials. One overstrike in your collection would make a nice curiosity. The best you will see in many years demands a premium. [SOLD $149 SOLD]
