So... I bought a roll of 25 presidential dollar coins at the bank yesterday, and got a nearly mint Susan B Anthony (best I've ever seen), a couple nice golden Sacagawea, some ok presidents and this really worn down Loony from 1990. And I keep finding pure nickel Canadian coins from '68 to '96 in my change. I guess I live too close to the border, eh? Since I love bronze I have a question. Numista says this Looney is bronze plated nickel, but doesn't say if it's ancient bronze or not. Does anyone know it's percentage tin and/or zinc? https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces467.html Thanks!
The portrait side looks like ancient bronze. Alloy: 91.5% nickel, 8.5% bronze. No break down of the bronze alloy mix. https://coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php?coin=1-dollar-1990&years=1-dollar-1990-2003
My camera screwed up the reverse side with the loon, making it a bit greenish. No two pics are the same with this phone. The portrait is a realistic color, though.
@BronzeAge per this URL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loonie the Bronze Plating consists of 88% Cu, 12% Sn
