Mint damage or PMD?

    I came across this steel cent with a clip out of the bottom, wondering if you can even tell if this was done at the mint or after. 1943OBV-2.JPG 1943REV-1.JPG

    Looks like fresh scratch. Rotate the coin and photo again so we can see the color of the mark at another angle.

    I thought you were wondering about the scratch face :shame: I need to CAREFULLY read the posts and look at ALL the photo's :facepalm::eggface:

    It is a clip and I see the "Blakesley Effect." Edge view looks genuine also.

    I see the Blakesley effect over the WE on the obverse. My guess is it's legitimate.
