Series 681 $20 in PCGS 68PPQ, you can still get a good price on these in the
A/U price points i would place a value on this in the $4,500 range as most
In the Series 681 depict a Military theme and cover most branches of the
Military including the Navy on 5, 10, 25, 50 Cent notes and $5, $10 you
Have the Green Baret on front Army tank on the back,
and Air Force on the $1 and $20 one tidbit, its amazing that out of all the
Series that were printed this is the only one that has anything to do with
Military life, after all this is who they were designed for.

The other day I was disposing of a childhood desk of mine. I'm guessing the desk was almost 50 years old. While going through the drawers I came across one mpc that I don't remember where I got it from. The only place I think I could have gotten it from would have been my dad (Korean war vet).

Obviously it is in close to P-2 condition so I'm not relying on it for retirement funds. Just posting it as a look what I found.

 

masterswimmer! You are right. I brought the exact same thing home from Korea with me in the 50's. Still have them.

You can actually get allot, there not going to be in great condition, but if your
Goal is just to build a set of low balls, you can actually do that on the cheap
Many dealers, especially at money show,s have bargain bins, you can find
Many here or on the bay

 

Yeah, I was being facetious. I already have a bunch of the low ball stuff. I buy mostly WW II, mostly Japan and France, mostly on eBay, when I can get a bargain.
I'm trying to get American Hawaii and North Africa notes from WW II, but there are no bargains with those.

Your notes are beautiful but far beyond my meager collecting wallet.

 

Well you dont have to spend allot, you can collect on a budget, it is possible
But even if you have all the money in the world there is no guarentee that
Your going to find the finest items either, it,s all about being in the right
Place at the right time more often the not.

 

A recent sale (2019) of a series 681 $20 MPC in 67EPQ sold for under $1K. I can’t see an additional $3.5K for one grade point....registry set or not.

@mpcusa we all enjoy seeing your notes, thanks, but I see no need to continually exaggerate the prices.

And, what is the status of the registry sets at the former PCGS Currency ? Are registry set owners regrading with Legacy or crossing over at PMG ?

 

It,s obvious you just dont get it , and i am really sorry your having a hard time
Grasping the concept of rare notes and values, a 67EPQ is not in this case a 68PPQ
PMG Vs PCGS, in which its the only one in population and in the highest grade, just
One grade point higher can easily be worth hundreds if not thousands of dollars
It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure that out !!

#3 on the list is the little brother to my #1 note Series 661 #10 in PCGS 67PPQ
Most all notes in this series are cheap gets, except for the $20 and $10
And in high grades next to impossible, there are two known 68,s , but the
67PPQ example is just awesome and one of only 2 in population, with an
Approx value of $2,900 ( these are really hard to find in raw grades ) if
You happen to find one in decent condition, you would be able to make
A good profit if you found something in a VF grade and got it graded

 

#4 on the list is one i was actually able to upgrade, but still have both
Allot of these were destroyed, so they are seldom seen, and i have yet
To see a raw one come of for sale, these are two really nice examples
From the Series 691 $5 first in PCGS67PPQ and then second PMG68PPQ
Would place a value of $1,750 on the 67 and $2,300 on the 68

Thousands of the Series 691 and 701 notes are still held by the Army Finance Museum. Many of these including yours have been surreptitiously trickling out into private hands since 2003.

 

Thousands, Show me ? Grading populations i can count on two hands atleast in
The high grades i have, and raw examples hardly come up at all, as a matter of
fact have never seen one outside of a holder or anything less then a gem grade
I am sure that,s different with you as i can imagine most of your stuff is ungraded
Two different worlds of thought.

 

Mcpusa, what are the chances you’d be willing to help me figure out an estimated value for a collection of MPCs I just found in a relative’s storage??? I count just over 40. Some similar to several you posted.

 

Next on the list and staying in the same Series 691 this $10 is probably the
most rare of the bunch just ahead of the $5, i dont seek out the 65PPQ grade
Regularly as the tend to have major centering issues, this one isnt to terriable
And actually that back looks better to me then the 65PPQ grade it got, these
If you can find them, will run you about $1,400 but i have seen some 67,s
Go in the low 2k Range.
