I always liked the "model coins". Here is one page of some info I found. I can't find the 2nd page:

I know nothing about this sleeping disorder you all are talking about. Yesterday I arrived at work at 0445 hours and left the office for the day at 1850 hours. No lunch and no breaks. I got home at about 1915 hours, took off my dress shoes, threw on my tennis shoes and skateboarded to a friend's b-day party. Got to bed at roughly 2230 hours and didn't wake up once until 0330 hours this morning. Back to work at 0445 until now. Feel wide awake. Drank my large coffee and now starting on the OJ.

Yea, it sucks. I used to work 2nd shift for about 10 years and never got out of the habit of staying up late, I guess.

What got my habit going was 12 on 12 off shift during the entire 5 and a half years I was stationed onboard the Midway. started at 1900 hours and ended at 0700 hours. The benefits to that was, 1/4 the crew worked those hours unless we were in a conflict, so there were hardly any lines for anything, and we were the first in line for chow at 0500 hours. Working those hours, breakfast was a dinner meal while dinner was a breakfast meal. To this day, I love eating cold pizza and spaghetti & meat sauce for breakfast.

Only downside was, after 45 days at sea, we'd get a day off (steel beach picnic). The bad part about that was, the day off would be during the day when the night crew was asleep. So it wasn't really a day off for us night crew anyways. I particularly enjoyed night shift because I always felt that if we were attacked (which a higher probability of attack would happen during night) and the ship had to go to GQ status, we'd be the first on scene since we were already up. Down aft on the port, Up forward on the starboard.

That one came out of a high roller cowboy bolo. The reverse was partially open, the obverse got polished by daily wear.

I sent it to Daniel Carr who turned it into this.

I'm too tired at the end of the day to not be able to sleep solid the entire night. For example, yesterday (Monday) morning I wake up at 0330 hours and get to work by 0445 hours. My commute between home and work is 4.5 miles. I worked solid all day in the office, leaving at 1830 hours (14 hours 45 minutes, if my math is correct). Get home and do a bunch of stuff around the house plus the usual nightly routine a.k.a. cook and eat dinner, shower, shave, etc. I get to bed at 2130 hours last night and this morning at 0330 hours I'm waking up and ready to roll, doing it all over again today.

I don't have time for sleepless nights.

I'm up, it's the middle of the nite, and I can't sleep. Just finished watching Operation Mincemeat on Netflix, and was hoping for a good encounter, melee, street brawl on here but nix. Oh well, off to play a bit of tetris......

Tetris? People still play that. Try a sporting game like Pool or Cards...
Don't forget to count she... No! Coins before bed.... thumb.gif
