I don't get a junky signal on gold like I do on zinc. Even if it is 10K and the majority alloy can be a junkier metal, it's still a better signal. This 10K class ring was a very strong and good signal. The first gold ring I pulled up, (10K) I thought was mixed with titanium, but the gold guy seemed to think it was just "pot metal". Still a very good signal.
Fantastic find there! What does it say on the ring though? Is it engraved? 1965, wow! Probably a collectability on these too. ???
Manzano High School It was the local high school where we lived at the old house. It may have been the 1st graduating class. When I found it the pandemic was in full swing so I wasn't allowed to just drop by the school to look at old yearbooks to try and locate the owner. (There weren't any signs near where I found it, or in the paper.) There are initials inside of it and I could figure out who it belonged to (had to be a tiny girl by the ring size.) I tried online but that was also a dead end. And now so many years have gone by IDK if they are even alive. It's always possible that the ring was given to a grand daughter or something who lost it. It's been sitting in my gold box for 2-3 years now. I am assuming ownership. The playground where I found it, is a tiny nothing kids area inside a park. I found another ring there a very large silver ring 7.5 grams. Photo coming.
Are these parks and Ball fields? Seems like you got the more to the surface finds. How deep are the targets? What machine are you using? I would hit older property.
Mostly parks but I just do the playgrounds that's where people lose stuff and it's not just kids. Parents lose stuff, and older kids/people hang out there later. I hit one school playground that was still unlocked. The schools were the best places to hunt but they are all locked up like prisons now, even though it is not private property. All the older ground here has been searched out, and the ground is like cement. It's way too much work to pull up some corroded wheatie, and putting the grass back is also a chore. Most things are near the surface but many times I have to dig under it, but the soil under the wood chips is softer than the other ground I mentioned. I use a cheap Bounty Hunter and it works very well. I am close to 40,000 targets (since 2016) (I need 80 more) but if I include my stuff from the 1990's then that's another 700 or so. I am at 70 wheaties, 10 silver coins and 1 buffalo, 1 proof quarter. Yes it's mostly pennies over 15,400 but I am close to 8800 quarters, 3300+ nickels, 6200+ dimes. Only 31 half dollars but one is a Franklin, 146 dollar coins 3 of them Eisenhowers and 2 of them are NIFCs. I have found 10 gold pieces, 8 rings a medallion and a chain, and another 99 silvers besides the coins. And 4 silvers from the 1990's, and another half. After having little success in the 1990's I didn't expect much out here but I was pleasantly surprised, but now the game is dwindling down. I've also found $65 in cash 5 back then and 60 since 2016.
Small silver ring. It's not stamped but the signal, patina and weight are all correct. GF looked at it and said yes. Prob too small to stamp.
I'm sorry Richard hasn't been around. I updated my swag there's 9 photos. On the dollars I was too lazy to lay them out, because I have them in order. 1. Pressed coins 2. Tungsten and stainless steel rings 3. Silver coins 4. Halves 5. Dollar coins 6. Gold 7. Silver chains 8. Miscellaneous silver 9. Silver rings.
This started out to be a disaster but then it got better. I think the ring is silver but we will have to get it tested. The Cook Islands coin, I saw one site selling it for $9 I saw it selling on EBay for $12.50. It is silver plated over bronze. Made a few dollars over my gas expense. It is a non circulating New Zealand coin. Face value is only 60 US cents. But as a special issue it has value.
Further research shows this is a Daniel Carr design coin and there are issues with it. I can't find the mintage but it's not high. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_Tower_Silver_Dollar
