I do more "modern urban treasure hunting" than the traditional. I have done that and digging up the sod and replacing it is a pain. So the finds are not too old as I am mainly just hitting playgrounds, because the ground here is like cement, and it's all been searched out (the parks) and it's easier to dig the wood chips or sand, and that's where people lose stuff. 2 pennies from 1929 a buff nickel from 1928 a couple of Mercs from the 40's, quarter from 1952, a half dollar from 1958. That old 1920ish Canadian dime (not USA). Found some old undated Chinese coin with the holes but the net says they made tons of them in the 1700s and 1800s.
The pressed coins? Places have machines that you put in 50 cents and a penny and it smashes the penny into an oval and imprints the name of the place. It's a souvenir thing. Some of the locations on these pressed coins are very interesting. I will post some later. Found a nice silver ring.
Some are just below the wood chips and not buried. Others, I cleaned. Lemon juice and a little salt I think.
Hi Mike, How far are you having to drive? And how about your gas milage, as it looks like there's more than 9$ + several small silver bracelets?...(Maybe we're just use to $2.80/gal gas here in TX) Looks like a really successful hunt that I'd be rather proud of...Good going! J.T.
I used to have several routes that were short this was a long one back and forth. So if I went 90 miles (36 MPG) using the middle grade gas costs me $9. If I could have pulled a "W" that would have saved it. I had 7 looks but 6 D's and a P. The silver works out to $3 so that was a nice surprise.
Forgot to put in the text. Dollar coin, and the Meow Wolf token costs a dollar and can be used for a locker or arcade game. Yes only used $5 in gas.
