I hit one spot Saturday and got the dollar coin. First spot today silver ring, no test req. Near the end, the half dollar. I also found a rock that set off the detector, I don't know what it is.
These 3 were in a sandbox behind a burned out house at the TB clinic. 4 rings so far there,I probably have another day there so who knows.
So this is the cleaned up rings. I can't see a date,I was so hoping to. Still some cleaning to do but they look so much better. I'm very excited to be able to bring them back to life and let them breathe again. I'm still in aww that I now own such treasures.
@Richard gladfelter make sure you get tested for TB. You know those finds were probably due to the hospital staff burying the possessions of the TB patients Oh, nice finds!
Weak. And then I get to my last spot which is usually OK, and someone is working my side of the street. I have something set up for next week. Fingers crossed.
I wear gloves so I hope it protect me but, I did put them in a bag and then wash them when I got home. I never even thought of that!
So I went on a little hunt and didn't do very well. I was in a huge field where there used to be a trailer park. Lots of junk. I moved to a little burm of grass between ttwo stores and hit the dollar coin. It's only my 4th one so I'm pretty stoked about that. HH everyone..It is a 2009 low mintage coin to boot.
In the 1990's in Colorado I did some metal detecting with mediocre success. 4 silvers, 2 nice rings an earring and a broken part of a silver bracelet and a half dollar. I only had one really good hunt. I dug this up in Lyons, CO. It's a metal boy scouts kerchief holder. Doesn't do anything for me, but my GF really likes it. She was a girl scout and likes all the weird stuff I find.
Getting rough out there. The ring is stamped S925 but that just means silver plated in China. I could tell by the signal and the look of it, that it's junk. The plating is completely gone.
Going to have to get a new rig. This one works perfectly fine, but the way it is designed, the 9V battery end caps break frequently. It's an inexpensive part and an easy repair, but this is what happened. The old style of this machine the batteries sat on a shelf and the wires never broke. This newer design there is not much support for the batteries. They can hang freely and tug on the cheaply made end caps and one of the leads can come off and the only way is to wire up a new one, you can't put the wire back in. Well on this model you have to jam the batteries and the wires in the compartment and they barely fit. So I told the guy who fixed it initially to make it a little shorter. And instead of making the replacement part shorter, he made the wire inside the machine shorter and every time I had to fix it, it got shorter and shorter to the point where I can't reach it anymore. My GF and I were able to do one last repair job on it, but it was a miracle and I won't be able to fix it again. Perfectly good detector useless because of one battery wire.
Like the Michael Kors could make a nice keychain. Makes me want a metal detector now that there might be designer items in the dirt.
The ring is nice and well made but not silver. Although GF wants to test it. Local Coronavirus hunt, so only 1/2 gallon of gas. Crossed over 12,000 pennies. Another dime not pictured.
Man that stinks,I have one like that they put the battery holes underneath the head and they fall out and do the same thing. That's why I purchased the Garrett.
Had some things tested. The first one on the left which is not stamped and we both thought was real, came back real. The middle one which is not stamped and I didn't think was real but my GF thought it might be, came back real. The third one which is stamped and I just figured it was gold plated over silver, came back fake.
Dang @Richard gladfelter & @Michael K, You guys are tearing it up! Makes me want to go MD right now. Problem is I rarely find anything of value, just modern clad.
This year has been a little on the weak side. And this current "thing" is not going to help. Last year I did very well, and those hunts are probably all in the thread.
